The shirt itself is in excellent condition given its age. There are just a few faint, speckled marks above the sponsor none of which detracts from the stunning overall quality of the shirt. On the reverse of the shirt a faint residue is visible following the careful removal of a damaged 22 numberset (Ibrahim Tanko) - this could easily be restored by any of the multiple football shirt restorers available online.

Rare home shirt as worn when Die Schwarzgelben endured a season of mixed fortunes following their Champions League triumph at the end of the previous campaign. Domestically they stumbled to a 10th place finish in the Bundesliga and were knocked out of the round of 16 in the DFB Pokal. In continental competition they were runners up in the UEFA Super Cup and also made it to the semi final of the Champions League. The shirt sponsor was changed mid-way through the season.
